This is a common question these days.  As more people hear about 4K TVs they are asking ” What Is A UHD TV?”.  As a matter of fact, this is the most common question we get on this site www.4KADVICE.comMany of our Pages & Posts explain in detail what a UHD TV is, however we will briefly explain this and then link you over for more details.

A UHD TV stands for “Ultra High Definition Television”.  Basically it is no different than the 1080 HD Television that is sitting in your family room right now.  It is a flat panel TV that will look exactly like the ones you own now.  The biggest difference is in the pixel resolution.  And, this is a HUGE difference because it makes the picture image FOUR more times better than 1080 HD.

What we mean by FOUR more times is that the vertical pixels equal 4,000 versus 1,080 on a High Definition television.  That is the gist of it.  Manufacturers figured our a way to squeeze four more tiny pixels into the size of what would be equal to ONE pixel in a 1080 HD TV.  This means that it can display four more times the color, contract, sharpness and depth.  This makes a big difference to the quality of your picture.  This makes the picture even more real looking than HD had provided.

When HD first came out, people were amazed at how clear and real the picture looked.  Coming from Standard Definition (SD) and analog televisions this was a major upgrade.  Not to mention, they invented the ‘flat panel’ which meant that consumers could hand this much lighter TV on a fire place or wall in order to free up space in their rooms.  It only required one person to carry a flat panel TV of any size.  This was very different compared to the large, deep tube box TVs that we have lived with for many decades.

So, the biggest difference between a 1080 HD TV and a 4K Ultra HD TV is the resolution.  They simply added “Ultra” to the High Definition label since they were adding an ‘ultra’ amount of pixels to it.   The label for 4K has changed several times and this has caused confusion for consumers.  We are here to clear this up and teach you the latest information about 4K.

We bought our very first SONY 4K television on Amazon back in 2014 and it was the best decision we made.  We saved over $350 by purchasing on Amazon.  We highly recommend Amazon as your merchant for 4K televisions and other 4K devices.  The reason why Amazon is the best is because of selection and price.

Here Are The Benefits Of Amazon  (you can go to Amazon by clicking our many Amazon links):

As you can see, there are many reasons why you should shop on Amazon and buy your first 4K Ultra HD television.  Aside from these, convenience was a major factor in our decision.  I have a painful shoulder and I cannot life items.  The shippers actually delivered our 65-inch 4K TV to our family room and unboxed it for us.  This was way better than dealing with the hassle of bringing it home from a store.  Not to mention, we hate dealing with the annoying and pesky sales people in the store.

There is plenty of 4K content to watch nowadays.  More and more producers are filming their shows using 4K cameras.  This is what gives us real, native 4K movies and TV shows.  Other producers are digitally enhancing their films and calling them “4K”.  These are considered ‘fake’ 4K although they are still much better than 720 or 1080 HD.  They are just not full 4K.

We have provided you a helpful Post that will verify how the movie or TV show was filmed.  This way you can know what you are watching and not question your 4K TVs abilities.  It all comes down to which camera systems were used to make the film….2K or 4K cameras.  Click the link below.

real or fake 4K uhd content

REAL or FAKE 4K Movies & TV Shows

Another features of ALL 4K TVs that should not be over-looked is what is called UPSCALING or UPCONVERTING.  These mean the same thing.  Because of the extra pixels, the TV is capable of digitally enhancing the picture image to increase its resolution.  It cannot upscale to full 4K, however it surely makes the picture much better than what it was in its original form  (720 or 1080 HD).  This feature alone makes upgrading your TV to 4K worth while.  As long as you are watching a 720 or 1080 mastered movie or show, your 4K TV will automatically upconvert the picture image and make it much better to watch.

Or, if you are really in to 4K content, you can easily find movies or shows that were mastered (filmed) with 4K cameras and provide you the best-of-the-best picture out of all 4K.  These are stunning to watch and look very true-to-life.  4K look so real that it seems like you are looking through a window at a live scene.  The details that you can see on a 4K display are not much different than what you would see in person with your bare naked eyes.

Click on this link to read more about UPSCALING.

To recap, UHD stands for Ultra High Definition.  They simply added “Ultra” to the already existing label of High Definition (HD).  These televisions will replace 1080 HD TVs in the near future.  When you go to upgrade your TV, you will be purchasing a 4K Ultra HD TV.  We recommend you click on our links and go to Amazon to shop.  They offer the most benefits and convenience.

Founder of 4KADVICE.com:

We created this site because back in 2014 when we became interested in a 4K TV, we could not find any helpful information online.  We had to purchase our first 4K ‘blind’ and uninformed.  We did NOT want this to happen to you!  We created 4KADVICE.com to provide consumers with updated and helpful information about all things 4K.  Most of our information relates to televisions since these products affect most people and households.  Aside from homes & automobiles….televisions are another large purchase in ones life.  You want to be edcucated BEFORE you upgrade your TV.  And, that is what we are here to do.

To Learn More Check Out Our Page:     4K SCHOOL

  1. We do recommend Amazon for researching your first 4K Ultra HD TV. They have an entire 4K store dedicated to only 4K products like TVs, cameras, Video Recorders, Virtual Reality Headsets and of course 4K UH Blu-Ray players and movies/shows.

Not only does Amazon sell these products, but they also have their own 4K School to teach consumers about what 4K is. They explain 4k and how the pixel resolutions work. They are a great place to read reviews from other customers who bought the same exact Tv product that you are interested in. You cannot get that inside a store.

  2. I am glad you made a site dedicated to Tv’s.I am 40 years old and I have seen change of TV technologies from black and white TV to UHD Tv’s now.Your site provides an indepth information about UHD Tv’s,I think the TV’s of the future will be more advanced but less in price as compared to previous models

Amit – Yes, you and I have both seen many different types of TVs as I am 41. Close to your age. Do you remember the big, heavy deep tube boxes that required 3 grown men to carry one if it was a large display? I remember all of the shows in the 80’s like Chips Patrol, Hulk Hogan, TJ Hooker, Wonder Woman, Dukes Of Hazzard. LIttle did we know back then that we would one day see HIgh Definition flat panel TVs that could be hung on your wall.

It was great when we switched over to HD from standard definition and the TVs became light weight. No to mention the picture image was stunning on an HD TV. Then networks began broadcasting in HD and the screen looked so real.

Now, 15 years later we have 4K Ultra HD TVs. And, they are even more awesome than HD. Do you have a 4K TV right now. You should check out a demo if you have never seen one. Prices nowadays are way down for a 4K. Actually prices for a 4K TV are the same as for HD. 4K TVs are replacing HD TVs entirely in the near future. When people upgrade their TV today, they are buying 4K and that is most of what is being sold. Thanks – MB>

  3. Totally helpful article you have here buddy. I’m always baffled with the various terminology of tvs nowadays (4k, HD etc) so to read your explanation is very helpful to me. What do you think about the latest technology? Will we able to invent a greater resolution TV in the near future?

    1. Author

Thanks for you comments and support. We strive to provide helpful information to readers. We want to educate them about 4K UHD TV’S before they make purchase decision to upgrade their TV. Do u own a 4k yet? Use our Amazon links to shop.

Good question, my opinion is that 4k tv’s will be to stay for a long time. Probably a decade or more just like HE tv’s have been around for 15 years. I am not sure our eyes can process more than a 4k resolution but we will see. Thanks, Matt b.

  4. What is UHD TV ?.
Your so right with this question, i bet like me and most people haven’t got a clue. This is great advice for anyone wanting to buy a new TV.
I’ve always been a big admirer of Samsung TV’s which i have been using for the past 10 years or so and due for a new one, so very helpful with what TV to get next. I like the Upscaling part of the 4K set with what it does to better your movie and TV experience. With your link’s to Amazon made it easy to find 4K TV’s with all the info.
Really informative and a good bit of knowledge to have when buying a new TV.
    Thanks for sharing this.

Justin, thank you sir for reading our Post and supporting our site http://www.4KADIVE.com. We sure hope that when the time comes for you to upgrade your TV you come back to our site and use our links to get you over to Amazon. Amazon really does have the best selection and lowest prices. Plus, they have 2-day free shipping that is guaranteed. We bought our first SONY 65 inch ultra HD TV on Amazon and saved over $350 bucks.

Glad we can provide helpful information for you so that you can make informed decision when you go to buy a new TV. Watching sporting events in 4K is amazing. They broadcast the Super Bowl in 4K but if you did not have a 4K TV you would have never known it. they also have the History Channel and other networks now showing certain movies and shows in 4K. Get on board and you will love it! thanks, Matt B.

  5. This is really fascinating to me, that the 4K Ultra HD TV has 4 times the resolution of a 1080 HD TV…? I still use a 1080 HD TV and sometimes I notice that the picture is blurred or just not too clear and sharp as I would like it to be.

It seems to me, as you say, that this new technology makes the picture look life-like, like you are looking out a window at a scene outside.

Thank you for this great information. I love the fact that you have given me options to choose from on Amazon. That will make the process much easier and smoother when I am ready to purchase.

Hi Amy, thanks for commenting on our Post and Site. Please share our post if you feel inclined so that we can help inform others before they upgrade their television. These are big purchases and the more information you have, the better decision you can make.

Well, you are not alone since only about 20% of households have upgraded to a 4K UHD TV. Most have not yet and still watch a 1080 HD TV. Glad you like our options and we hope to provide helpful information since many people do not know what 4K is. 4K is replacing 1080 HD TVs and soon everyone will have one. They really are amazing to watch.

Here are some more Posts that might interest you. Thanks again, matt B.

    2. Hi Amy, thank you for commenting on our Post and supporting our site 4KADVICE.com. We set out to create this blog site to help give people more information and reviews about 4K TVs. Most people still do not know what it means or what it is. Really, a 4K TV is not much different than the current 1080p HD TV flat panel that you watch now. All 4K means is that it has FOUR times the amount of pixels in the resolution than a 1080 HD TV. Its much more real looking and true-to-life picture image. it is amazing how real it looks. Almost like what you would see with your bare naked eyes in person.

You are very welcome. It is motivating to read from you that our site was helpful and has a purpose. TV purchases are the bigger purchases in life because they are usually over $1,000. People watch TV nearly every night so these devices are important to us. To buy the right TV means that you have to learn and do your research. that is what we are trying to help with here. In 2014, we found no info about 4K UHD TVs on line when we became interested. Therefore, we saw a need and created 4KADVICE.com to help others who were just like us. Eager to learn more and make an informed decision. Thanks and please share our site to help others. – MB.

  6. Interesting article. Admittedly, I’m hoping my husband never gets to read this, though, or he will be demanding we update our tv immediately! LOL When it is time to make the switch to ultra, I will definitely be taking your advice and using Amazon to get the lowest price. How are they with shipping such a fragile product – should I be concerned?

    1. Author

Hi Lois, First of all….thank you for commenting on our Post and supporting out site http://www.4KADVICE.com . We are striving to provide helpful information to people so they can make informed decisions when the time comes. We also offer convenient links over to Amazon and point people in the right direction for shopping.

That’s funny, as I laugh about your husband. YES, if he saw a 4K TV in action…you guys would be getting one I bet. That’s exactly what happened with us. My wife and I saw a 4K TV at a store in 2014 and I had to have one. I say “I” because my wife could take it or leave it. Me on the other hand, always has to have the latest and greatest. No, I do really appreciate technology and I watch TV a lot. Its my downtime. TV watching is something that de-stresses me. Its the only thing that clears my mind and takes it off the drama in life or stress. It puts me into the shows plot and helps me forget about the hard day or whatever is going on. Not all people use Tv to de-stress, but its the only thing that works for me. That and exercise, however I only exercise in front of the Tv so time passes faster:-). Anyway, Yes Amazon makes the most sense because you will save the most money.

We wondered about shipping also back in 2014 when we bought on Amazon. However, we read a lot of reviews with customers asking other customers the same question. People were not use to buying large fragile items online like this. But, things have changed. As you know, brick and mortar stores are closing left and right across this country. Especially sad for Ma & Pa stores that get forced out of business. But, a lot of the larger chains are shutting down entirely or closing half their branches because people are shopping online now more than ever before. I know that we do 99% of our shopping online and on Amazon. Even for necessities like household goods and groceries. Not only are the less expensive, but its so convenient to shop from our smart phone in our hand whenever we want. Saves a trip to the stores and saves time.

Reviews were very positive about Amazon shipping fragile TVs like 4Ks. No one ever complained and most of the comments were praising Amazon over their fast free delivery. Its at your door in 2 days. Our delivery guys even brought our 4K SONY into our living room and in-boxed it for us since I cannot life because bad shoulder (cant remember if I noted that in this Post or not in case I repeat myself:-)) Anyway, no need to worry about buying a delicate TV from Amazon because they offer a shipping gurantee plus a warranty. They are the PROS at shipping fragile large items. they secure them bigtime and no dents or scratches are ever made that we know of. Its safe now. We are PRIME members which give us FRee 2-day shipping on all items. It pays for itself although many items ship free from amazon especially if over a certain dollar amount like TVs are.

Good luck and thanks for considering our Amazon link to do your shopping. that really helps to support our site and cause since we are affiliates of Amazon. Best wishes to you!. below are some more Posts that might interest you. – Take Care, Matt B.

ARE 4K TVs MORE EXPENSIVE THAN 1080 HD TVs? BEST 4K TVs IN 2016 (same TVs apply in 2017)

  7. The technology keeps evolving and I am happy nowadays able to enjoy such benefits of watching high definition without spending huge money like the past.

I could say more affordable to everyone that wanted to own a high-quality definition TV. It’s a win-win for manufacture and consumers.

What do you think the TV in the near future?

I am happy to know “ultra high definition” in-depth from your side. Opened up my eyes.

Hi Maxx – thanks for your comment and supporting our site http://www.4KADVICE.com.

Do you own a 4K UHD or plan to upgrade to one? If so, please use our Amazon links throughout this site. that would help us.

I think 4K TVs are here to stay for a long, long time. I don’t think our eyes can process to much higher resolution or it would be a none-benefit since 4K is about as good as it gets. Thanks – MB>

  8. Hi, Matty, and thank you for the detailed review on UHD TV.

I was happy to read it as I had never dug into these details before. When you talk about Amazon, you make me (and probably other people outside of US, Canada, UK jealous…lol). Because for it is really convenient and cheap to buy from Amazon.

As for me… Well, I can mostly buy only books. They are not allowed to ship electronics to my country (in Northern Europe).

The second problem that I see with UHD is that (at least here, in my country) there are not many TV channels yet that support UHD. So I may buy a UHD TV but the picture resolution is still quite poor (unless I watch some recorded stuff or special program).

What do you think about that? Are all US channels in UHD already?

Thank you for the article, sir 🙂

BEST 4K TVs IN 2016 (same TVs apply in 2017)

  9. This is a very informative article for those thinking about UHD TV. I have never given much thought to all the features. To think that the extra pixels will allow the UHD TV to digitally enhance the picture image resolution is amazing. Technology changes so fast these days that I have no doubt that these high definition TVs will soon replace 1080 HD TVs.

  10. Great post Matty!

I’d heard some talk about 4k TVs but never really knew what they were about. However, your explanation was thoroughly clear. Were I to buy a TV, I’d definitely be looking 4k, I see people are now making 4k laptops & probably phones too which is great! I imagine Mac will soon have one too if they don’t already.

    Thanks again!

    1. Author

Yes, there is basically 4K everything now. PCs, laptops, monitors, Virtual reality …you name it and they are building this 4K resolution devices. They are so much more clear and crisp than 1080 HD. 1080 HD is great…especially when it first came out compared to SD. But, 4K just blows your mind how real looking it is. Please come back to our site and use our Amazon links to go shopping for a new 4K when your time is right. Thanks a lot! MB.

      BUY 4K NOW, OR WAIT?

  11. Hi there,
This was a great read and very informative. I found the sources for priced friendly UHD TV’s really helpful. Maybe I should update to a TV and stop staring at the small screen of my laptop.
I was wondering if there are differences in the brands that produce UHD TV’s? Like is Samsung your viewer choice or LG or Sony?

    1. Author

Yes, since prices are way down and down to stay for a 4K Ultra HD TV you should definitely take advantage of it and upgrade to a 4K. These 4K UHD TVS are completely replacing 1080p HD TVs. You can get a larger display screen 4K TV for really affordable prices today if you shop on Amazon.

You can use our Amazon links (we have them in Posts and always on our RIGHT SIDE BAR OF HOME PAGE) to take you to Amazon and read purchaser reviews about any TV you wish to learn more about. Amazon has guaranteed FREE 2 day shipping and you will save the most money. THey also have the largest selection of 4K TVs.

GREAT QUESTION: I would first recommend SONY. Our first 4K TV we bought on Amazon was a SONY 65-inch so we are partial to Sony. Plus SONY was the first to pioneer the new 4K technology. But many others followed suit. You cant go wrong with Samsung, Panasonic or LG. Vizio is another fantastic brand for fair prices.

1080 HD – WHAT IS UPSCALING?

  12. We are looking to upgrade our 65″ LED to something in 4K, I’m glad I found your website because we were about to purchase at a local best buy and I didn’t know you could by a unit that big on Amazon. 4K seems to be much clearer and crisper and we like the curved models that are out now. Only issue is we have a custom wall mount for our current LED tv due to where it is in our house (built into a wall) so going with a curved option wil be tricky. Great to know Amazon offers products like these with fast shipping, to date we’ve only purchased books there but will be searching for other stuff now, thanks

    1. Author

Hi Will – we are glad you read our Post and checked out our site http://www.4KADVICE.com. Thank you for taking the time to comment as well.

YES, honest to God Amazon is the best place to buy 4K. They have the largest selection compared to any other site or in-store. And, their prices are the lowest. Usually they are the lowest, but what you CAN always expect on Amazon are deals, sales and specials.

For example, read the Post below and I was upgrading my TV today, I would hop on this specific deal and buy this Samsung TODAY. The price is fantastic for what you get: Samsung 4K Ultra HD 65-inch CURVED, Smart LED. You can figure out how to hand it. Plus it comes with special brackets. Its about $1,200. (see the POST below (4K TV OF THE MONTH). Thing is, a year or two ago, this same exact CURVED Samsung 4K TV would have been $3,500.

Manufacturers have dropped prices on purpose because 4K is replacing 1080p HD TVs entirely and therefore prices needed to match. This has caused an explosion this year 2017 in 4K TV buys.

You can read reviews on Amazon about this specific TV or any 4K TV for that matter to help you decide.

Other than this Samsung 65-inch Curved 4K TV on sale right now, there are many other sales and deals. CHeck out the 2016 model deals. Amazon has dropped prices on 4K 2016 models BIGTIME to get rid of stock they say. Prices are incredible for these models and 2016 is no different from a 2017 model. 4K is 4K they all have HDR and every other benefit like SMART on both 2016 and 2017 models. That would be my next purchase aside from one above. I would go for the cost-savings on a 2016 model rather than spend top notch for a 2017 model.

MIGHT I ADD that the Samsung deal above (shown in the Post below as “TV OF THE MONTH”) happens to be a new 2017 model. Its not even a 2016 model for that kind of low price.

We buy everything on Amazon these days. Its so convenient. FREE, 2 day shipping.. They are shipping PROs especially for large, fragile items like TVs. We had no issue with shipping our 65 inch SONY 4K in 2014 when we first bought it. They know what they are doing.

More people are shopping online (Amazon is the most shopped site) than ever before to save money and convenience. Also to avoid annoying sales-people in stores and this is exactly why so many brick and mortar stores are closing down.

Here are some other Posts too about deals, etc.

PLEASE use our Amazon links to take you over to Amazon if you decide to purchase a new 4K TV (from Amazon). It would really help to support our site and keep us going. Just link over there by clicking ANY amazon link on our Right Side Bar or within the Posts. That’s it…then just shop normal. Amazon has an entire section dedicated to 4K that explains even more information. Its helpful too. THANKS – MATT B.

  13. Thanks for your clear explanation of UHD TV. My TV is getting old and I am thinking of getting a new one. Your post has explained what UHD TV is and why it is better so now I have a clearer picture of what I should look for in my new TV. I have been window shopping and the picture on the UHD TV is much clearer and the colors are better than on my old set. Thank you for clearing up my confusion but is this the very latest TV or is there something better that I should look at before making a final decision?

Yea, good point about TVs and brands.  People do not know that all manufacturers get most of the parts to build their televisions from just a small number of parts suppliers.  They all get the same parts from the same 2-3 companies.

This means that you are basically paying for brand name.  Yes, we trying to provide a helpful and informative site about the newer 4K technology. Not just TVs but PCs and monitors among others like video cameras.

4K is the greatest highest resolution technology that we have seen thus far.  I am sure it will get better. Thanks for commenting.  – MB.

  15. Your sit looks amazing. It is very informative and i like your ad placement looks very professional. How long did it take for you to build your website? is it hard to maintain your website with everything going on? Do you sell stuff from your website by you? Thank you.

    1. Author

Hey man, thanks for commenting on our Post and supporting our site in this way. Thanks for the compliment about my layout.  It took be a few weeks to build it although I did not work all day long.  A few hours here and there.  It is not too hard to manage this site and I actually have 3 other sites I manage at the same time.  It super easy to manage only 1 site, but it gets difficult to manage 4 at one time.

I recommend working only on 1 site and get it up and running and know what you are doing.  Once you do that, it wont require much time to write articles and put posts up from that point on.  Then, add a 2nd site and do the same thing.  Eventually what you will be doing is writing articles for two sites on Monday, on tursday you write two articles and post them for the other 2 sites, Thursday you manage and tweak your sites to make changes , Friday I promote my sites as well as over the weekend by social media, forums, etc.  At least this has been my schedule and I like it a lot.  Its not bad.  I am trying to make this my full time job. How about you? What is your site address?

  16. Great article. I feel like so often that technology is moving so fast that I can’t even keep up with the new types of TV’s that are out right now. I didn’t even know that a UHDTV was a thing. I still have a TV that will only do a max of 720hd. Maybe I should hop on Amazon and check this out.

  17. Good info there. I’ve had my Panasonic plasma for eight years now and have looked occasionally over the past couple of years at upgrading to a 4K TV. I think the thing (other than the price) that put me off adopting early was the mention of HDR. Now that there’s more TVs available in 4K with HDR I think my days with my plasma may be numbered!

  18. Hello,

It seems that people create so many different names for a TV and then charge you extra for it! UHD TV is something I never heard about, although I had guessed it was ultra HD tv. There’s so many different types of TV’s that it’s overwhelming to even go to the store to look. Its nice having this website here to do all the research for me! With that being said, what TV would be your #1 recommendation for the common TV/movie watcher?

    1. Author

Hi Brooke,  we hear you loud and clear.  There are so many different names for TVs that its hard to even know what is what.  This is why we created our site http://www.4KADVICE.com to try to provide helpful information to people like you.

Thanks for reading our Post and supporting our site by commenting.  We would recommend a Sony 55-inch 4K UHD TV.  Sony pioneered this new 4K Technology so we prefer them a bit over anyone else.  We also own a Sony 65-inch 4K TV that we bought from Amazon.  Amazon is best to research and buy TVs because their prices are the lowest and they have the best selection.  You can also read rea;, honest reviews from other customers who bought the same TV you might be interested in.

Check out some other Posts describing the best 4K TVs.  The final label that you should look for is called “4K Ultra HD TV”.  This is what will be on boxes and labels on store shelves.

4K and Ultra HD mean the same thing.  This new type of TV is replacing 1080 HD TVs because it has FOUR times as many pixels in its resolution than 1080 HD.  This just mean that the picture image looks that much more real and true-to-life than a 1080 HD TV.  Take Care, Matt B.

      5 AWESOME 65-INCH 4K UHD TVs

  19. This is not only informative but it fascinates me. Twenty years ago I worked at a t.v. and appliance store. The manager told me that in thirty years we would be watching holograms for t.v. We are getting closer. I heard about the 4k t.v.’s awhile back. There is not a lot of info about the 4k technology on the net, so thank you for this site.
Do you see the 4k technology being used on other screened devices such as cell phones?

    1. Author

Hi Rod, thank you for the encouragement and compliment that this Post of ours was informative.  As this is our goal on http://www.4KADVICE.com .  To educate people about this newer 4K technology BEFORE they go and buy another TV.  You should NOT buy another 1080 HD TV yet so many consumers are without knowing that 4K is priced about the same and much, much better Tv overall.

Actually, good question, but 4K resolution is already being used on many other devices.  My Samsung Galaxy S7 which is over a year old has 4K UHD on it.  I can take videos using the 4K resolution if I choose that option, or I can choose lower resolution.  4K is actually 3840 vertical pixel by 2160…rounded up to “4K” 4000.

“Ultra” was added to High Definition (HD)to give us 4K UHD.

Smart phones have 4K, PC monitors, Virtual Reality headsets, Laptops, Cameras, Video recorders…you name it and 4K has been around a while now.  Several years.  There are even 4K drones…I know because I just bought one for about $125.  it captures 4K level videos from the sky and follows you (follows your phone) while doing activities or whatever.

I too have predicted that eventually the next big enhancement to TV watching (because 4K UHD will last at least 15 years JUST LIKE HD has lasted 17+ years since it first came out in the early 2000s and we left tube box standard def analog behind– thank God!).  Anyway, the next big thing will be holograms.  Some airports already have Holograms stations where you can watch a man or lady talk about the airport, give direction etc.

I can envision a new TV in the corner of a family room that shoots up a 3D 4 sided Hollogram in color up against some kind of white background.  This will happen and it will be incredible. You could stick your hand through the hologram but in the meantime it will be playing any video or movie, Tv show that you wish.  You will watch it as if its so real.  People will look like miniature people above your hologram TV set.  I cant wait!

Don’t buy another 1080 HD TV.  4K TVs are priced about the same now and they are FOUR times better overall than 1080 HD.  The picture looks so real and true-to-life that it will blow your mind.  The best picture that has ever existed on a TV by far.  Here are some other informative Posts for you.  – Matt B.

  20. Wow! I had hear of 4K technology but had no idea what it really entailed. Thanks for clarifying this in this detailed post. I wonder what will be next in the TV industry…how “real” can the images get?
Or will they have hologramic TV? Am I too far off into science fiction?
    Thanks for this informative post.

Hi Orion !  Thanks again for reading our Post and supporting our site http://www.4KADVICE.com by commenting.  Thank you also for sharing our Post and Site with your friends so that we can help educate more people in order for them to make informed purchase decisions especially when they go to buy another TV. Televisions are the bigger purchases in ones life..therefore, the right decisions ought to be made by consumers.  For this to happen, it required them getting information and an education on the latest Tech.

You mention hologram TV and I also have predicted this will be in the future at some point in time. What is more real than seeing a 3D actual hologram movie in your family room coming up out of some Tv device?!  Awesome and we cant wait!.  Actually, there are already holograms going on in a few airports.

I have seen a hologram lady in the airport giving directions and instructions.  It looked like a real woman standing there talking.  I can see how an entire movie or show could play out via a hologram and make TV watching more exciting than ever.

4K TVs will last at least 20 years.  After all, HD came to us in early 2000s and has lasted now more than 17 years.  4K will do the same.  Especially because its so much better than 1080 HD that it will appease consumers for a long time.

1080 HD – WHAT IS UPSCALING?

  22. I’ve never heard HD reviewed in such detail, I’ve never even heard of UHD before your post. I can telll you know almost everything there is to know about 4K tv’s and your just the kind of person’s review I would read before making a purchase as expensive as a tv. Keep up the good work and keep people informed

Hi Aldane!  Thanks for coming to our site http://www.4KADVICE.com and reading out Posts.  Again, thanks especially for taking the time to comment on our posts and support us in this way.  It means a lot.  You could also help us by sharing our Posts and Site as well as clicking on our 3rd party ADs located on the RIGHT SIDE of our Site and the Footer bottom area.

Of course if you shop at Amazon.com ever…you would GREATLY help us if you clicked on any of our Amazon ads throughout our site and within our Posts and allow us to link you over to Amazon.  Then, simply shop as you normally would.

Honestly, we get credit from Amazon for sending or directing Users over to their site.  In turn, this helps to keep our site running and allows us to pay for advertising elsewhere so that more people can see and use our site.

Our goal is to educate people about 4K TVs, etc. so they can make informed purchase decisions BEFORE they go to buy another TV.  Don’t buy another 1080 HD TV since 4K TVs are priced about the same and seriously much, much better quality than HD as well as much more real picture image than HD.

We are glad that our Post was informative for you and you learned something new today.

Bottom line is that Televisions are indeed BIG purchases in one’s life  They are costly for people, therefore it only makes sense to learn all you can and educate yourself BEFORE you go and buy one.  You need to buy the right TV for you.

And, if you don’t know about this 4K Tech, you might make a mistake and buy another 1080 HD regretting it later on when everyone else has 4K TVs enjoying the true-to-life picture image.  Other reasons to buy 4K are that the prices are about equal to 1080 HD TVs now.  They didn’t always use to be, but manufacturers purposely lowered prices on 4K  because they want customers upgrading to 4K and not buying 1080 HD TVs.

4K TVs are replacing 1080 HD entirely, but it is taking a few years. JUST like HD replaced SD- Standard Definition so is Ultra HD replacing HD- High Definition.  And, we welcome this new enhancement because if you have ever seen a picture image from a 4K TV playing a real, native 4K film….it will blow your socks off.  The image looks so real that its like you are looking through a window at a real life scene.  Its amazing and worth every dollar spent to buy a 4K TV.

Well, bookmark our site http://www.4KADVICE.com and please come back to us in the future when you are ready to upgrade your Plasma.  I know you have good taste in TVs and you are knowledgeable because of the fact that you own a Plasma in the first place.  You knew your stuff back in the day because Plasma was KING.

But, they stopped making Plasma around 2012 because they could see that 4K Ultra HD TVs were much better overall.  And, to make a 4K Plasma TV  (which would be out of this world)  they say is impossible because of the costs it would take to implement so many pixels and resolution that comes within a Plasma.  Actually, I might even be saying this wrong since Plasma TVs are totally different and may not even contain pixels.  its a totally different technologyy and was by far the best in its time.  But, not anymore.

I have a great article about Plasma that I will attach below for you along with some other helpful Posts you might be interested in.  Thanks again for commenting and supporting us.  Please SHARE our Posts and Site to help us reach more people.—-MATT B>.

      4K UHD SETUP

  23. Thanks for explaining what a 4K TV actually is. Now I understand why my husband is so keen to get one!

And I appreciate you taking the time to point out the difference between real and fake 4k movies and shows. I didn’t know there was such a thing! I will be using the link you provided to ensure we get the most of our new 4K TV…I think you might have convinced me on my husband’s birthday present…

YES, once you know what a 4K UHD TV is, or if you happen to see a demo in a store…most people will want one.  That’s how it was for me.  The picture image is so real looking and true-to-life that its hard to believe what you are seeing.  Its like you are there.

We are happy that our site has helped to inform and educate you about these 4K TVs.  Your husband will never forget it if you buy him a 4K TV.  Amazon is best place to research and buy them.  That is where we bought our first 4K Sony 65-inch UHD.  We love it.  We saved about $350 by shopping at Amazon.

We have provided you convenient links on our RIGHT SIDE of the site http://www.4KADVICE.com and on the FOOTER or bottom of the site. Honestly, it helps give us credit when we direct people to Amazon via ANY of our amazon links.. Then, just do you normal shopping once you get to Amazon.  Its that simple and you are really helping bigtime to keep our site going and helping us pay for advertising so we can be seen by more people and help to educate them too about this 4K technology.  (Amazon- FREE, 2 day guaranteed, safe, shipping)

It doesn’t matter what you buy on Amazon either. It does not have to be a 4K TV….we get credit from Amazon no matter what.  We just have to have our Users click the Amazon link and enter Amazon that way.

We agree that TV watching will continue to get very exciting and real.  4K brings a picture image that is so real and true-to-life that we have never seen anything like it before.  Now, that HDR has been added to 4K TVs over past year..the picture is EVEN BETTER than without HDR.  It is amazing.

Who knows, perhaps hologram TV will be in the works at some point. However, HD lasted over 17 years and we believe that since 4K UHD is replacing 1080 HD…then 4K will last at least 20 years.  It contains FOUR times as many pixels in its resolution than 1080 HD therefore it makes a huge difference that should satisfy consumers for a long, long time.  Thanks for contributing.  Please help support us further by clicking on our 3rd party ADs located on the RIGHT SIDE of our Site as well as the FOOTER bottom of our Site.

If you ever shop at Amazon, please go there by simply clicking on ANY of our Amazon links throughout out site and on our RIDE SIDE bar.  This would also help to support our site and keep us providing helpful, FREE information to consumers so that they can make informed purchase decisions.  Amazon is the best place to buy a new 4K TV anyway.  Lowest prices, largest selection, FREE guaranteed shipping, fast 2-day shipping and convenience.

1080 HD – WHAT IS UPSCALING?

  25. That was so fascinating to read!

I’ve been left behind where TV is concerned – our last bought TV was bought in 2008/9, and was obsolete by 2011. We got rid of it and have not bought another since, favouring to watch our shows on computers. But recently, I found myself missing having a TV set, so this is timely, finding you as it’ll help me make the decision when the time comes. Thank you for your work on this, very informative, and eye-opening!

We totally understand that you have not used a TV for a while and rely mainly on computer and the internet.  The great thing about all 4K TVs is that they have built in browsers and allow you to stream 4K movies and TV shows on internet sites like Netflix and Amazon Video.

We are glad that you have been able to find our information helpful.  This is encouraging because it means that we are doing our job and accomplishing our goals.  Thanks again!

  26. Thanks a lot for the write up! I’ve been curious about 4K after seeing them in best buy but I had no idea where to start! This has been an awesome break down of the technology and benefits of 4K television. I can’t even imagine how great cartoons and animations must look!

Will definitely check out the links you provided!

You are welcome for the information and we will be updating with new articles on a regular basis to help people.  We can tell you that shows like Cartoons, or animated movies like “Avatar” are absolutely stunning to watch on a 4K UHD TV.  Other great films are ones that include landscapes like beaches and mountains.  Watching 4K is so real and true-to-life that it makes you feel like you are there.  Its exciting and fun to watch because of all the details you can see on 4K unlike on a 1080 HD TV.  HD was great in its time and has been around for 17 years now.  But, just like HD replaced SD- Standard Definition, so is Ultra HD replacing HD.  You cannot go wrong with a new 4K TV and you would love watching it and creating memories with your family.

If you decide to upgrade to a 4K TV we recommend using our Amazon links to take you to the Amazon site where you can save money with the lowest 4K TV prices and the largest selection to choose from.  Most of all, Amazon provides real and honest reviews from other customers who bought the same 4K TV product that you might be interested in.

  27. Thanks for the very useful information. I have heard of ultra high definition TVs but didn’t really know what that meant or if it was really any better than my current HD TV. Now I know the differences between HD and ultra HD and that it would be worth getting. Thanks for all the insight on this!
