We wanted to clear up an issue that has been brought to our attention by way of ‘Users’ in our comments section.  First, we thank you for commenting on our Post & Site.  We welcome any support by sharing our site, www.4KADVICE.com,  on Facebook and with your friends and family.

We are providing consumers a service to educate and inform so that when the time comes for someone to upgrade their Television, they will make the right decision.  TVs are big purchases, therefore you want to get it right.  You want the latest technology so that your TV watching experience can be the best.  That is what 4K Ultra HD TVs provide.

Or, if you want the latest greatest video recorder to film your family growing up through the years….a 4K UHD camera would be best.

Many people do not know what 4K means or what it is.  We have explained it in detail on this site.  Its basically no different than the TV you currently have in your house right now.  4K TVs are a flat panel television and appear the same as the TVs that have been sold for the past 15 years (HD TVS). 4K UHD TV

However, there is one MAJOR difference with 4K.  There are FOUR times the number of pixels that make up the resolution in a 4K TV compared to a 1080 HD TV.  This means that the picture image in a 4K is four times better quality overall.  And, it really is.  The picture is so real and true-to-life that it is like you are looking through a window at a real live scene.  What you see on a 4K TV display is about the same as what you would see in person with your bare naked eyes.

With that said, people have been confused about 4K because they think that a 4K Ultra High Definition Television is something special and exotic.  Many Users have commented that they are not rich and cannot afford a 4K TV.  Other Users have claimed that they are not “techies” and something like a 4k UHD TV is way over their head.

We are here to straighten up these bad ‘ideas’.  We want consumers to know the truth about 4K.

Read The Facts Below:

  1.  4K ULTRA HD TVS are not just for rich people because they are actually affordable on Amazon!
  2. 4K TVS are replacing 1080p HD TVs
  3. Prices for 4K UHD TVS are the same as current prices for 1080p HD TVs  (compare on Amazon)
  4. 4K is not overly technical.  It simply means 4000 pixels versus 1080 pixels as in a HD TV.
  5. We are switching to 4K TVs just like we switched to 1080 HD TVs from Standard Definition
  6. 4K UHD TVs picture image is FOUR times better quality overall than 1080 HD
  7. Everyone will upgrade to 4K UHD TVs in the near future
  8. There is plenty of 4K Movies and TV Shows right now with more added daily.
  9. Producers have begun filming movies with 4K camera systems
  10. Moive-Makers are phasing out their 2K camera equipment to make room for 4K cameras
  11. 4K Isn’t just TVs.  There are 4K Video recorders, still cameras, laptops, monitors, Virtual Reality headsets & More
  12. 80% of households still own at least one  1080p HD TV.  This percentage is dropping drastically
  13. You can build a state-of-the-art 4K theater room for under $1,000  (with 4K Blu-Ray Player & Stereo)
  14. You can buy a 42-inch 4K Ultra HD TV SMART for under $500 on Amazon
  15. You can buy a large 65-inch 4K UHD TV on Amazon for $900.
  16. 4K prices are the same as 1080 HD TV prices. Example:  Buy a 40-inch 4K Ultra HD TV for $374 on Amazon (Samsung)

Overall, 4K TVs are not some kind of special or exotic technical device that is so expensive that the ultra-rich can only afford them.  4K TVs are not necessarily the gold-plated watch that only rich folk can afford…when the rest of us just buy a normal watch.

Consumers do not have to settle for another 720 or 1080p HD Television when they go to upgrade in 2017 or beyond.  You don’t need extra money or a higher budget to purchase a 4K TV.  You will upgrade to 4K just like you would buy another 1080 HD.  Except that you will be extra pleased because the picture image is going to be significantly better quality.  The picture will be four times more clear & crisp than 1080.  You will see such fine details that you are not use to seeing.

Instead of a water fall  you will see water droplets on a 4K TV.  Instead of a beach, you can see the grains of sand.  Actors faces show pores and wrinkles.  It looks like actors are standing in your family room in person.  Its very real looking.  More real for a TV than ever before. 4K TVs are affordable

The key to the best 4K content is verifying that the movie or show was mastered (filmed) using 4K Cameras.  If not, producers can still digitally enhance the film and increase the resolution.  They then label it 4K UHD content when in fact it is NOT real, native 4K.  There is a difference.  This is called UPSCALING or UPCONVERTING.  They mean the same.  An upscaled 4K movie still has a better picture image than 1080 HD.  But, it is not as good as full native 4K.

ALL 4K UHD TVs do upscaling.  This means that anything you watch on it will be digitally enhanced to improve the resolution and fill all of the pixels.  As long as the movie or show is at least 720 or 1080 HD, your 4K TV will upscale it automatically.  This is another good reason to upgrade your TV to a 4K TV.  Then, if you want to watch the best of the best in 4K, you can stream real, native 4K movies online.

Just know that the bottom line is that 4k Televisions are just as affordable as 1080p HD Televisions.  You will pay the same price for a 4K TV that you would for a 1080 HD TV especially if you shop on Amazon.  We recommend Amazon because they offer FREE 2-day shipping which is guaranteed.  Amazon has the best selection and the lowest prices in the world on 4K TV and other 4K devices like Blu-Ray Players.  It is also convenient to have these items shipped right to your door so that you can avoid annoying salespeople in the store.

  1. We love our 4K Ultra High Definition Television so much that we watch it every night. We have friends and family over to have movie night and 4K 3D movies too. Everyone loves our 4K TV and cant believe how real the picture is. Especially if you have a 4K video recorder and then watch the play back on your 4K TV the images are stunning. They look so real like its in person. Buy a 4K soon so you can start enjoying it!

  2. Wow finally I understand what is a 4K Tv, I always thought it was something different and difficult to understand but the way you explained it made it clear thanks for that and definitely my next TV will be a 4K since it seems in a short time every will be changing their TV’s for a 4K.

    1. Yep, that’s right everyone will be upgrading to 4K. Actually, 4K TVs are mostly what is sold today and advertised if you look. Its a great upgrade and a big one! FOUR times better picture image is a HUGE increase from HD. HD was already awesome to watch, so now that we have 4K its crazy to think its 4 times better than HD.

Please share our site to reach others BEFORE they upgrade their TV. People should NOT buy another 1080 HD TV since prices are about the same for a 4K. Here are some other Posts that might help you. Thanks for commenting too! – Mattb.

  3. I love your concept and well informative. I didnt know what 4k means in choosing smart TV before, I thought there is a lot that attached to it, but could see it that it is something as simple as 4000 pixels. Good job, love the theme, design and the structure. I wish you good luck.

    1. Hello!! THANKS for commenting on our Post and supporting our site http://www.4KADVICE.com in this way. Please share our site with your friends so that we can reach more people and teach them about 4K TVs.

Thanks for liking our Site and getting something out of our Post. Yes, 4K TVs do not mean anything super special like most think. Most people do NOT know what 4K was or what it means. Therefore, they stayed away from it. Many thought it was some kind of exotic special equipment that only the rich people buy as a toy.

Not so, its the TV that is replacing 1080 HD TV is all and they are priced the same as 1080 HD TVs nowadays. Do you have one or do you wish to upgrade to 4K? Please use our Amazon links if you do. Or come back to our site as we would greatly appreciate that. – Matt B.

1080 HD – WHAT IS UPSCALING?

  4. I have always wondered what is the difference with 4K UHD TVs and other flat panel TVs. I am glad that you have cleared that up with so many facts highlighting them from better picture image right down to the price. Fantastic, this is encouraging info as to how we can get TV watching experience at its best.

    1. Hi Carol – thanks again for taking the time to read our Post and support our site http://www.4KADVICE.com.

We are very happy to have informed you of what some of the differences are between 4K UHD and 1080 HD or other HD devices. That is the goal of our site….to help educate consumers before they buy another TV.

1080 HD – WHAT IS UPSCALING?

  5. Hi,

Great site, very informative and explained in easy to understand terms. Now I know what 4K actually means and what to look out for and has made me less intimidated by technology.

    1. Very glad our Post and site was helpful in educating you about 4K TVs. Please consider using our AMazon links to go shopping on Amazon for 4K TVs if you ever decide to do that! Thanks Again for Sharing our site as well. – Matt B.

  6. I’m so glad you have cleared some things. The title of your article is what drew me in. Before reading this article, I was under the impression that one of these TV’s would be way out of my reach. It’s also nice to understand there will be special technical skills needed, since my husband and I are both somewhat technically challenged. 😉 We’ll soon be in the market for a new television; I’ll be sure to come back and check out your Amazon links.

    1. Hello Kathy – thanks again for taking the time to read our Post and support our site http://www.4KADVICE.com by commenting.

You are not alone in that many people have no idea what “4K” is or what it means. Many consumers are unsure. This is one reason why we are providing this helpful and informative site. To educate consumers before they buy another TV.

4K is replacing 1080 HD as you know by now. They are most of what is being sold. In other words, people are not ‘upgrading’ to another 1080p HD TV. They are buying 4K TVs because they are taking the place of 1080 HD TV.

And, its a PLUS. With FOUR times more in pixel number, the resolution is astounding. It looks so real and true-to-life that it takes your breath away when watching a real, native 4K movie. Yes, prices are affordable now just like any other 1080 HD TV.

  7. Great article very informative as I had no clue about HDTV after 1080P. We will be replacing a tele shortly and I now know 4G id the way to go and why it is-. I can imagine live action sports like I am courtside or next to the goal. Tv that looks like a window is without a doubt the next advance forward.

  8. You did an excellent job explaining the difference between a 4k television vs a 1080 or 720 television. I knew that 4k looked better but now I understand the reason why as well. Thank you for clearing that up for me and everyone else. I will be upgrading my TV soon and this article helped to answer the questions I had. Keep up the great work!

    1. Hello Johel!  Thanks for commenting on our post and taking the time to read it.  You are supporting our site http://www.4KADVICE.com in this way and encouraging others to comment as well….so thanks!

Very glad that we provided you with some helpful information.  That is our main goal.  In 2014, I could not find any information about 4K after I saw a demo in a store.  Nothing helpful online….so I decided to create this site to help people learn about 4K and make informed purchase decisions.  Unlike what I had available.

Its amazing how many people still do not know what “4K” is or what it means.  So, at least our site is not too late if you know what I mean.  Plenty of people who still need this information since only 20% have upgraded to a 4K TV yet (per consumer reports).  Here are some other helpful Posts and thanks again! – MB.

1080 HD – WHAT IS UPSCALING?

      WHY BUY 4K UHD?

  9. Wow really great article!

I had no idea what a 4K TV was. Actually I had never even heard of this technology.

I was actually scouting the market for a new TV and the 1080 HD was going to be the logical choice.

Now that I know the prices are comparable, the picture is 4 times more clearer and they will be replacing the 1080 HD in the very near future the choice is obvious. Thanks again for a very informative article!

    1. Hi Mike – we are glad you found our site http://www.4KADVICE.com.  We hope that you found our information helpful. You are not alone as most people have not heard of “4K”.  Which is sort of surprising because it has been out and on shelves for over 3 years now.

Most of what you see advertised and marketed by stores are 4K UHD Televisions.  This is what people are buying when they need a new TV because its totally replacing 1080 HD TVs.

1080 HD replaced Standard Definition back in early 2000s as you probably remember.  We were introduced to the flat panel Tv and HD was amazing at the time.  It has been with us for over 17 years now.

But, Sony pioneered 4K which only means that it contains FOUR times as many pixels.  So a much, much higher resolution than 1080. And, it shows!  The picture is stunning when you watch real, native 4K filmed movie or show.  There are a lot of them now and more every day.  There is plenty of 4K content.

Since prices are way down for a 4K Ultra HD TV…you should definitely go that route.  Especially because in 2-3 years everyone will own 4K.  TVs last 5-7 years so you would be good to go. Prices are about the same as 1080 HD TV prices now done on purpose by manufacturers to get more consumers upgrading to 4K.

Use our Amazon links to go shopping and read reviews about specific 4K UHD TVs to help you decide.  We have Amazon links throughout our site and right side bar.. Any of them will take you to Amazon.

Thanks for commenting.   Here are some other helpful Posts. –MB.

1080 HD – WHAT IS UPSCALING?

  10. Thank you much MattyBx for this brilliant information on the 4K TV
We are living in the age of upgrade, where Technology have set the pace. People often feel threatened by high prices. but here you have done it right by clearing up that blockage that sits in their head.

The price for the 4K TV is similar to the price of the 1080 HD TV.
I agree with you much, when you are watching your TV you want to see every thing clear and to me,Matty Bx; It pays dividend when the images appear as natural looking as being in the same place as you are.

When you are watching some things such as sport for an example. you want feel like you can even touch your fan.
You have taken a good job to educate the people on the difference yet similar attributes of both the 4K TV and the outgoing 1080 HD TV

You took the lesson all the way to the 4K Camera and equipment that is now phasing out the 2K camera and it’s equipment.

So they can be in line with the 4K system. I think that people should take up your offer on this brilliant offer as no one want to be left behind

    1. Thank you so much for your support by commenting and giving your thoughts.  Our site http://www.4kadvice.com appreciates your feedback and contribution.

You are very right that too many consumers are uneducated about this newer 4K Technology that is replacing 1080 HD TVs.

We are trying to educate consumers by using our site to give them accurate and current information, reviews and data about 4K TVs as well as other 4K gear.

4K is simply the latest highest resolution created that will make video cameras, phones, monitors, computers and most importantly TELEVISIONS have the greatest picture image quality possible.

When we watch TV we WANT to feel like we are there.  We want to be involved in the scenery and allow the TV display to take us to wherever the movie shows.  Ultra High Definition 4K TVs DO THIS!  It look so real to watch these 4K TVs that its hard to believe.  Soon, everyone will upgrade to 4K and that will be all that we know for another 15 years exactly like what happened with High Definition and how it took over Standard Definition (SD) analog big tube box TVs.

4K TVs is just technology changing and bettering itself over time like it has always done.  We get to enjoy it!

      Thanks Again, Matt B.

1080 HD – WHAT IS UPSCALING?

  11. To be honest i have never heard about 4K Ultra High Definition Television before. I thought i have seen it all when it comes to technology, but obviously i was wrong.

After reading information on your website, I can only imagine how would it be to watch a concert, or some kind of Science fiction or adventure movie on the television like that. WOW.

You can only imagine how far will technology go in 15-20 years.

    Thanks for the great Info.

    1. I know crazy to think what we will have with tech in 10-20 years.  I am a techy guy I just love technology and new things.

You are not alone. Most people for some reason have not heard of 4K or what it means.  Not sure why.

But, all that 4K Ultra HD is, is a much higher resolution than 1080 HD TVs.  Its FOUR times as many pizels in its resolution than a 1080 HD.

So, this makes the picture super, super awesome, real, true-to-life looking.  Its like looking through a window at a real live scene is how I describe it when you watch a real, native 4K movie.  Real 4K are the ones that producers used 4K resolution camera systems to make the film.  Not all 4K is like this . Other producers are taking older 1080 HD movies and digitally enhancing them only to label them “4K”. They are NOT full, real 4K, but they are still better than 1080 HD.

Watching sporting events and movies like Avatar just blow your mind on a 4K TV.  Some channel are already broadcasting in 4K like the History Channel did a series in 4K last month.  Thanks – MB.

1080 HD – WHAT IS UPSCALING?

  12. The site is very informative about the 4KUHD televisions. The various pages are well illustrated with clear pictures and definitions. Each page defines the subject very professionally. The pages are well constructed and are very clear. About the only criticism if had was the pages sometime took five to six seconds to change. Maybe is was my computer but that was how long it was taking to change. Other that this minor thing I enjoyed the information on the site.

    1. Hi John – Thanks for the feedback.  This Site Comments section us usually dedicated only to users making comments about the Post content they read.  Not on critiquing the website itself.  That is for the Site Feedback program that WA offers. But, thanks anyway.

  13. I really enjoyed reading about the legitimate availability of these affordable pieces of technology. I use a lot of video in my graphic design work, there for I am always looking for new ways to enhance my work and the experience of my audience. That being said, I appreciate you speaking about new devices other than just the 4K TV’s such as recorders and systems. Such valuable information!

    1. Hi Moriah!  Thanks for reading our Post and commenting on our site http://www.4KADVICE.com.

You are welcome and we are very glad that we could help provide you more information about 4K, etc.  Your graphic design could CERTAINLY increase the quality of your work since more detail could be seen.  We always suggest people go and request a demo of a 4K film on a 4K TV.  But, there are also 4K monitors that would help your work as well.  Thanks again, MB.  Here are some more Posts that might be helpful to you.

  14. hello
our graphic design could CERTAINLY increase the quality of your work since more detail could be seen. We always suggest people go and request a demo of a 4K film on a 4K TV. But, there are also 4K monitors that would help your work as wellI appreciate you speaking about new devices other than just the 4K TV’s such as recorders and systems. Such valuable information!
    thank you for the review!

  15. Wow! Great site! So much knowledge and great facts! I love these TV’s. The hubby and I will be getting one the next time we upgrade our televisions. Probably not until around FOOTBALL season though!! Lol!! Anyway, like I said fantastic job with your layout and your facts. Everything looks really great. Readers are informed and you are knowledgeable in the product you are writing about. Keep up the great work!

    1. Glad to hear that our site http://www.4kadvice.com has been helpful to you. That is the purpose of it. We saw a 4K Demo back in 2014 and I was totally amazed at how real the picture was. Especially how much more true-to-life looking it was even moreso than HD (because HD has a great picture image too).
Anyway, I went online to research 4K UHD in 2014 and could not find much information at all. Very disappointing the internet let me down! So, 4KADVICE.com was born and ever since then I have been helping to educate consumers about these 4K TVs which are replacing 1080 HD TVs so they can make better decisions when they need a new TV.
Thanks for using our site. Come back to us for more information. We suggest Amazon for buying 4K TVs, and that is where we bought our first Sony 4K UHD 65 inch. We saved over $300 by going with Amazon. They are Pros at shipping fragile products…too. In 2 days it was in our family room being unboxed by the shippers. We have LOVED it ever since! Cant watch anything on anything else now…b/c it look terrible compared to Ultra HD images. Thanks Again & Good Luck Shopping. — Matt B.

  16. Really great article! My family actually has 3 4K TV! We love them. The picture really is unbeatable. I totes recommend that everyone get at least one for their home. The only thing I would add to your page is that when watching 4K media it can use a lot of data from your internet service provider so try not to watch too much or else you can run the risk of going over your data cap! lol it is def happened to me.

    1. Hi James, thanks for reading our article and posting a comment.  It is awesome that you already own 4K TVs!  You probably don’t realize and I had not realized that still today MOST people do not know what 4K is or what it means.

I would say 8 our of 10 comments I receive are people telling me that they had no idea that 4K UHD existed or what it was. Or, if they do they think its some kind of exotic special toy that only rich people buy.

As you know 4K UHD is just the technology enhancement replacing 1080 HD TVs just like HD replaced SD back in early 2000s.

We too love our Sony 4K UHD Tvs.  The picture really is amazing to watch with so many fine details.  It makes you feel like you are there on the scene or looking through a window at a real live scene when watching some 4K content.

Thanks about the idea.  I will certainly write about warning people about internet usage and how much data must be used to watch these 4K movies and shows.  4K does contain a MASSIVE amount of data which requires a fast enough speed and data usage.  This is a great idea to educate people about this.

Also, check out our Post called ‘REAL OR FAKE 4K’  I listed below.  It basically has to do with teaching 4K TV owners how to find Real, Native 4K films and knowing the difference between native 4K and fake 4K.  Its really not Fake, but they are 2K HDfilms that were digitally enhanced to increase resolution then labeled “4K”.  But, these are not full, real 4K films.  They are somewhere in between 1080 and 3820-(4K).  They are usually much better than HD or whatever format they were originally made in.

I learned that it all comes down to how the film was made.  Did producers use 2K camera systems or the newer 4K cameras to make the film.  Obviously 4K cameras give us the best, Real, Native content and 2K are upscaled to be better than HD but not the best like 4K.

We give you access to a databse where you can look up films or shows and see what they were filmed in.  See if they were upscaled or originally filmed with 4K cameras.  The latest Hungar Games and Blacklist show are both real 4K shows.  Many others are not. But its nice to know the difference so that people who own 4K TVs are not disappointed.

Many have said they expected the picture to be much better than it was.  Our response usually is to let them know they probably did NOT watch a real, native 4K-made film.  The only watched an upscaled version even through it has the “4K UHD” label on it.  Thanks and PLEASE share our Post and Site so we can teach others what we already know about 4K.  — matt b.

1080 HD – WHAT IS UPSCALING?

  17. For me, with Amazon and similar sites you can make yourself look super rich with anything. This includes car parts, bathroom sets as well as home theaters. I very rarely buy anything from stores because it’s usually less expensive on Amazon PLUS I get to read reviews before making the decision to purchase.

Again, good information here Matty. Customers are a lot smarter nowadays and this article proves it.

ps. Thanks for the tip on fake 4K… I didn’t even know that was a thing until today.

    1. Hi Jaron – We really appreciate your comment about our Post on http://www.4kadvice.com.  You have supported us in this way.  Please click on our ads on the RIGHT SIDE BAR if you can and we would be happy to return the favor to your if you have a site address that you could send us.

You are welcome for the information about Fake 4K. We had not known anything about it either until we stumbled upon it while doing research for an article.

If you own a 4K TV now or in the future you should be aware of the real versus fake 4K so that you are not disappointed if the picture image is not as good as you thought.  If its not its probably because its NOT real 4K filmed movie.  Here are some other helpful Posts.  — Matt B.

1080 HD – WHAT IS UPSCALING?

  18. Some good information!! There are many misinformed people around who don’t really know what 4K actually is.

It’s actually quite simple. 4 times more pixels, 4 times more quality and 4 times more resolution. And they are really not THAT expensive just like only thew ultra rich can get them. There are many affordable models.

Your site is great by the way. Keep up the good work!!

    1. Hi Tyler, thanks for taking the time to read our Post and comment on our site at http://www.4kadvice.com.  If you can click on our ads on the right side bar we would be forever grateful to you. We are happy to return the favor with your site if you send me your site address.
